The League Championship Trophy

The League Championship Trophy
In 1981 the Dunfermline & District Association formed a league competition for Clubs within the Association. Each Club enter a side comprising three teams of four players and the matches be played on a Wednesday evening. The clubs are drawn in sections to form a league and the winners of each section play a semi-final to determine the finalists. The final is played at a venue decided by the West Fife Association on the last Saturday in August and the winning club is presented with the LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP TROPHY. With effect from season 2005 the League was split into three divisions, with the top and bottom two being relegated. The top four in the first division play off in the semi finals with the top two having the home advantage. The winners of these semis now play for the League Championship trophy. Trophies are now presented to the winners of Divisions two and three. A further amendment for season 2006 sees the winner of Division 1 being crowned as League Champions taking the League Championship trophy and flag. The top four teams in Division 1 along with the top two teams in both divisions now take part in a LEAGUE CUP the final of which is played on the last Saturday in August
